Danadjieva Hansen Architects has earned a reputation for designing and constructing visionary architecture within limited budgets. This is largely due to the fact that responsibility of Design, Cost Control and Construction Management are performed within the same firm.
In Pittsburg Civic Center, DHA saved millions from the budget to enable the incorporation of art, sculpture, water features and landscaping in the complex. We went further by working with local contractors and manufacturers to define their capabilities and incorporate sustainable materials that could be fabricated locally. This collaboration reduced costs and allowed the majority of the bidders to be drawn from within the community. Danadjieva Hansen managed to retain 26% of the budget expenditures within the local community.
The Civic Center was completed below budget, unheard of for a civic facility of such size. This brought reinvestment opportunities and created jobs.
DHA's creativity, environmental sensitivity, and innovative design abilities achieved substantial savings, which was recognized by Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). The PG&E award for energy efficiency presented a check to Pittsburg's City Council for the estimated annual savings of over $250,000.
'It isn't often that a project can be built and stay on time and on budget…And this is the great testament to the oversight that we got from the architect… And Fani, I just want to thank you on behalf of all the city councils and all the citizens of Pittsburg for all the money you had saved us. Thank you very much.'
Former Mayor Bob Lewis, City of Pittsburg, CA
